BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending February 6, 2021 dropped to 9,010 from the week ending January 30, 2021 total of 10,376. For a comparison, during the week ending February 8, 2020, 1,805 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 11,933 from the previous week’s average of 14,804.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending February 6, 2021 decreased to 60,711 from the week ending January 30, 2021 total of 65,649. The continued claims were above the comparable figure of 15,051 for the week ending February 8, 2020.
The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 63,791 from the previous week’s average of 70,057.
