BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Workforce Commission employees who qualify will receive 4 percent merit pay raises effective Oct. 1, the agency announced today.
LWC’s staff has not received merit raises since Fiscal Year 2009-2010.
“The incredible work and strong stewardship of the agency’s funds by our staff are the reasons we're able to award merit increases this year to all who are eligible," LWC Executive Director Curt Eysink said. "Our staff continues to improve our agency and the services we provide to Louisiana’s employers and job seekers.”
LWC employees have made sweeping changes that have improved Louisiana’s business climate and are helping to create more opportunities for employers and job seekers. Noteworthy accomplishments within the past year include:
• The LWC and local partners helped about 200,000 people get a job or a better job.
• Louisiana has become a national leader in unemployment insurance process, technology and service improvement. Louisiana employers pay the lowest unemployment insurance taxes in the country. Louisiana’s unemployment insurance trust fund is already one of the strongest funds in the country and it is growing.
• Louisiana workers who are hurt on the job now receive faster, more consistent medical treatment thanks to Workers’ Compensation medical treatment guidelines. The number of disputed cases in court has fallen by a third and those in court are being resolved about five months faster than previously.
