BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Aug. 30, 2014, decreased to 2,237 from the previous week’s total of 2,268. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Aug. 31, 2013, figure of 2,434.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,303 from the previous week’s average of 2,317.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Aug. 30, 2014, decreased to 21,463 from the previous week’s total of 22,027. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Aug. 31, 2013, figure of 25,203.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 22,213 from the previous week’s average of 22,649.
