BATON ROUGE – The Danos and Curole Marine Contractors’ Fabrication Division issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) in anticipation of a mass layoff at its Morgan City facility.
The company said it expects to lay off approximately 80 employees between July 13 and July 27, 2016 due to “a significant downturn in business.” Some employees will be transferred to other locations.
Re-employment services are available for the affected workers through their local Business and Career Solutions Centers and LWC’s Rapid Response team.
The original WARN, including a list of all affected positions, is attached to this release.
About WARN Notices
Companies are required to file WARNs under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act if there is a full plant closure resulting in 50 or more employees losing their jobs in any 30-day period or if there is a mass layoff during any 30-day period. A layoff is considered a mass layoff if it is more than 500 employees or if it is between 50 and 499 employees and comprises 33 percent or more of the active workforce at that particular site.
