Local employers encouraged to participate in Diversity Works Job Fairs

BATON ROUGE – Registration is now open to employers interested in participating in next month’s Diversity Works Job Fairs. The event is held in October as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) is proud to sponsor the job fairs, which are free and open to all residents, but are especially geared towards job seekers with disabilities.

The 2017 Diversity Works Job Fairs will be held from 9 a.m. – noon in the following regions:

New Orleans - October 16

Xavier University, 1 Drexel Drive

Baton Rouge - October 18

Perkins Rowe, 10000 Perkins Rowe

Shreveport - October 31

Wyndham Garden Inn, 1419 E. 70th Street

Participating businesses will receive complimentary attendance to mini symposiums in the New Orleans and Shreveport areas, as well as opportunities to network with a broad range of business leaders.

The 2017 Diversity Works Job Fairs are coordinated by the LWC’s Office of Workforce Development through the Ticket to Work program, which assists Social Security beneficiaries in finding rewarding job opportunities. In the last 10 years, Diversity Works has helped to employ 15,000 job seekers with more than 1,500 businesses across Louisiana.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy to educate the public about disability employment issues and to celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
