Initial unemployment insurance claims drop for week ending Nov. 30

BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Nov. 30, 2019 dropped to 1,507 from the previous week’s total of 1,903. For a comparison, during the week ending Dec. 1, 2018, 2,594 initial claims were filed.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 1,946 from the previous week’s average of 2,010.

The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending Nov. 30, 2019 increased to 14,451 from the previous week’s total of 13,955. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 15,715 for the week ending Dec. 1, 2018.

The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 13,873 from the previous week’s average of 13,723.
