BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Jan. 18, 2020 dropped to 2,008 from the previous week’s total of 2,521. For a comparison, during the week ending Jan. 19, 2019, 2,222 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 1,914 from the previous week’s average of 1,967.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending Jan. 18, 2020 increased to 16,076 from the previous week’s total of 15,957. The continued claims were above the comparable figure of 15,851 for the week ending Jan. 19, 2019.
The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 15,964 from the previous week’s average of 15,785.
