BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending September 11, 2021 rose to 14,042 from the week ending September 4, 2021 total of 9,724. For a comparison, during the week ending September 12, 2020, 16,182 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 7,011 from the previous week’s average of 4,083.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending September 11, 2021 increased to 37,364 from the week ending September 4, 2021 total of 33,598. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 250,244 for the week ending September 12, 2020.
The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 35,984 from the previous week’s average of 36,751.
