Northwest Louisiana Veterans Job Fair to be held Nov. 13
More than 60 businesses scheduled to participate

BOSSIER CITY – Veterans seeking employment opportunities will be able to meet with representatives of more than 60 businesses at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Job Fair on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bossier Civic Center at 620 Benton Road. The event, which is sponsored by the Louisiana Workforce Commission, the Coordinating and Development Corporation, and the Cities of Shreveport and Bossier City, drew more than 600 jobseekers last year.

“Businesses that participate in our Veterans Job Fair do so because they recognize that veterans have the work ethic, dedication and skills they are seeking,” said Jim Lawrence, veterans representative with the Caddo Business and Career Solutions Center. “This event will allow veterans the opportunity to showcase their talents and connect with employers ready to hire.”

Veterans should present their DD-214 discharge papers or other military identification to participate and should bring copies of their résumé and be prepared to interview. Some employers have hired “on the spot” in past job fairs.

Businesses confirmed to participate include Acadian Ambulance Service; Alliance Compressors; Bollinger Shipyards, Inc.; Boomtown Casino & Hotel; Carter Federal Credit Union; Cellxion; Children’s Medical Center; Cintas; Danos & Curole; Dyncorp International; Fed Ex Home Delivery; Forcht Wade Corrections Center; Hunt Guillot & Associates; Lucas Group; Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding; Pratt Industries; Schwan’s Home Service, Inc.; Tango Transport; and Wachovia Securities.
