Louisiana Workforce Investment Council Holds First Meeting

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Workforce Investment Council held its inaugural meeting today, with members taking their oaths of office. Gov. Jindal appointed Eddie Rispone to serve as Council chairman. Rispone serves as chairman of the Management Board of Industrial Specialty Contractors, LLC, an industrial contractor company. He was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry to serve on the Council as a representative of the general business community, as required by statute.

The Council, which functions as the state’s Workforce Investment Board, is charged with developing a strategic plan to coordinate and integrate a workforce development delivery system to assure efficiency and cooperation between public and private entities by advising the governor on the needs of Louisiana’s employers and its workforce.

In addition, the Council is responsible for occupational forecasting, which will be used to drive programs and funding for job training.
