La. Workforce Commission to Open Transition Center for Brown-Eagle Contract Services Workers in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE– The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response Team will open a transition center to provide services for the 84 workers who will be laid off from Brown-Eagle Contract Services on Oct. 4. The company packaged rubber at the ExxonMobil Chemical Plant in Baton Rouge.

The transition center will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and Thursday, Sept. 17, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 5330 Dijon Avenue, Baton Rouge.

Services to be provided at the center include job placement assistance, job counseling, job search workshops, labor market information, résumé preparation assistance, interview preparation, online job search assistance, veterans’ assistance information, occupational retraining, trade adjustment assistance, debt counseling, out-of-area job search assistance, relocation assistance, on-the-job training, unemployment insurance and other supportive services as needed.

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer and participating employees.

Many of these workers have been employed with Brown-Eagle Contract Services for 20 years or more as machine operators. Employers seeking workers with experience in controlling operations of equipment or systems should contact the LWC’s Office of Workforce Development at 225-342-2934.
