La. Workforce Commission to Offer Orientation Sessions for International Paper- Pineville Employees

ALEXANDRIA – The Louisiana Workforce Commission Rapid Response Team will conduct orientation sessions this Thursday and Friday to assist the 230 workers who will be laid off when International Paper closes its Pineville mill in December.

Sessions will be held at the facility, located at 300 Williams Lake Road in Pineville, where workers will learn about the full array of services available to them through the Workforce Commission.

Three sessions will be held each day at 6 a.m., 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The International Paper – Pineville mill will handle scheduling through its Human Resources department.

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer or participating employees.

International Paper – Pineville mill employees will also be the focus of a prayer service set for 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Guinn Auditorium on the campus of Louisiana College. Sponsors of the prayer service are Louisiana College and the North Rapides Business and Industry Alliance.
